Crew

Single Protek roofing + solar team

This Haines City homeowner had an aging shingle roof with an active leak — and 47 solar panels mounted on top of it. Many roofers won't touch a solar roof, and solar companies charge thousands just for the detach-and-reset. Because Protek is both a roofing and a solar contractor, one crew handled the entire job: panels off, new roof on, panels back and producing.

Roof replaced in 3 working days; solar panels reinstalled the following week after inspection.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Protek replaced our roof. They had to remove and reinstall 47 solar panels as well. They did an excellent job. The service was very good. They cleaned up nicely after done. I have been very happy with all aspects of their work.”

What we found

✕A worn, faded shingle roof at the end of its service life, with granule loss across the main slopes
✕An active leak that had stained an interior bedroom ceiling
✕47 roof-mounted solar panels that had to come off before any roofing work could start
✕Dozens of existing mount penetrations that needed to be re-flashed and sealed correctly on the new roof

What we did

✓Carefully detached all 47 solar panels and racking, staged and protected on site — no third-party solar company needed
✓Covered interior furniture and tore the roof down to the deck, replacing damaged decking
✓Installed peel-and-stick underlayment and new architectural shingles to Florida high-wind code
✓Reset the racking with new flashed, sealed mounts, reinstalled all 47 panels, and verified the system was producing
✓Passed final county inspection and left the property clean — the homeowner's words, not ours

Before

The roof as we found it

Before — the original roof, worn and streaked, with the solar array still mounted

Before — panels off, showing the faded shingles and old mount points underneath

What we found — an active leak had already stained a bedroom ceiling

During

Solar off, new roof on

During — all 47 panels detached, stacked and protected on site by our solar crew

During — new shingles on, racking re-set with fresh flashed and sealed mounts

After

New roof, panels back and producing

After — the full array back in place across the brand-new roof

After — the finished home, new roofline and panels visible from the yard

After — the new architectural shingle roof with every mount re-flashed

After — all 47 panels back on the new roof and producing
